4-Day Orientation Workshop on CL4STEM and Digital Technologies held for IBBUL Pre-service Teachers

A 4-Day Orientation Workshop Held for IBBUL Pre-service Teachers Selected for Participation in CL4STEM Impact Grant Project in Nigeria


As part of plans to implement the CL4STEM impact grant project in Nigeria, which is aimed at consolidating the previous scaling of the Project, a 4-day orientation workshop was held as from Monday 6th to Thursday 9th of October 2025 at the Directorate of ICT, Ibrahim Badamasi Babangida University, Lapai (IBBUL), for 40 selected pre-service teachers of Department of Science Education, IBBUL, who are just about going for their teaching practice exercise.



Highlights of activities in Day-1 of the orientation workshop include signing of consent forms, registration and profiling of the participating pre-service teachers, pre-workshop surveys and interviews of selected participants. Also, the CL4STEM Project introduction, requirements, expectations and pedagogies were presented to the participants.

Day-2 of the orientation workshop begins with presentations on Subject Specific Module for Sciences (Biology, Chemistry &Physics) & Mathematics and their contents of schemes of work for adaptation/alignment. The presentations were followed by downloading and installation of the Moodle on the phones of participating pre-service teachers. After which accounts were created and each participant was enrolled in his or her specialised teaching subjects. The participants were then taught how to navigate the Moodle in order to acquaint themselves with various activities therein. A series of lectures were held on technical issues that may arise from the Moodle and how to troubleshoot in order to identify solutions to backend related issues.


Day-3 activities involved the establishment of the Community of Practice (CoP) in Telegram. The participants were introduced to best practices of CoP and digital skills modules. A practical session on the digital skills module was held including online tools for short tasks and lesson plans, use of OERs, and ethical and responsible use of AI in education.

Day-4 which is the final day of the orientation workshop includes activities and presentations on developed Universal Design for Learning (UDL), enhanced ICT lesson plans, classroom observation rubrics, feedback and post-workshop surveys and interviews.
